Practical gemmology is about more than learning how to use instruments. It is about developing observational skills, techniques, confidence, and the ability to interpret the data you are collecting. These skills develop differently in each student, which is why the learning environment matters.

In a traditional classroom, students naturally have different levels of knowledge, experience, and practical ability. Some quickly become comfortable with a refractometer or microscope, while others need additional time and guidance. Instructors must divide their attention accordingly, often spending more time with students who require additional assistance. As a result, other students may find themselves waiting for help or progressing at a pace that does not suit them.

One-on-one instruction removes those limitations.

The pace is determined entirely by you. If you master a technique quickly, you move forward. If something requires more attention, you can spend the time needed to understand it fully. There is no waiting for the instructor and no pressure to keep pace with a class.

Just as importantly, feedback is immediate. Small errors in technique can be identified and corrected as they happen, questions can be explored in greater depth, and unusual results can be discussed directly with the instructor.

This is particularly important in practical gemmology. Obtaining data is only part of the process. The real skill lies in understanding what you are seeing, interpreting the evidence, and knowing what to do next.

Fees

Coloured Gemstone Professional Diploma (96 hours) = 4800 euros

Diamond Professional Diploma (48 hours) = 2400 euros

Students who complete both the Coloured Gemstone Professional and Diamond Professional Diploma programs (theory and practical) will automatically receive a third diploma (Career Gemmologist).

All classes are held in Southern Spain.
